Basketball Recap: Dauson Gardiner Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Timpanogos

There's no place like home for Uintah, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They skirted past the Timpanogos Timberwolves 65-63. The win almost wasn't to be: the Utes were down 34-19 in the second quarter.

Uintah's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dauson Gardiner led the charge by going 6 for 8 en route to 19 points along with seven boards and five assists. Gideon Owen was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks.

Timpanogos lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gavin Messmer, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. Messmer has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Johnson, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Uintah's record now sits at 14-9. As for Timpanogos, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.

When Uintah and Timpanogos next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Uintah will try to stop Payson's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Uintah is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season. Similarly, Timpanogos will challenge Layton Christian Academy and their nine-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
