Preview: Wilton Warriors vs. Ludlowe Falcons

After three games on the road, Wilton is heading back home. They will take on the Ludlowe Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, everything went Wilton's way against McMahon as Wilton made off with a 31-6 win.

Among those leading the charge was Peter Reyes, who rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Reyes' longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Joey Hagerty was another key contributor, throwing for 138 yards and two touchdowns.

The team's defense also helped out by holding McMahon to a paltry 162 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Wilton's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 8.5 times before it was all said and done. Owen Theoharides was especially locked on to McMahon's QB and sacked him 5.5 times.

Meanwhile, Ludlowe took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-6 win over Norwalk. Given Ludlowe's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Norwalk is ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Christopher Bellantoni was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. Bellantoni hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Jacobs, who picked up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Wilton's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Ludlowe, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Wilton was able to grind out a solid win over Ludlowe in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, winning 24-14. Does Wilton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ludlowe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
