Baseball Recap: Ashland Has No Trouble Against Springfield

Ashland had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Springfield on Tuesday. The Grizzlies were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Millers. The Grizzlies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Millers, too.

Logan Trivette made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Trivette wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Malakai Chandler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Chandler has posted since back in April of 2024. Phoenyx Pennell was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Ashland's record is now 5-6. As for Springfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Ashland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Millers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
