Baseball Recap: Briarcliff Victorious

Briarcliff owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Hastings Yellow Jackets. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Not much got past Lucas Golovcsenko, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Hastings off the board. Golovcsenko has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Amador, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jesse Roth, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Briarcliff's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Hastings, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9.

Briarcliff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hastings, they will face off against Dobbs Ferry at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
