Baseball Recap: Scarborough Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Scarborough was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Westbrook on Tuesday. The Red Storm put the hurt on the Blue Blazes with a sharp 8-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Red Storm in their matchups with the Blue Blazes: they've now won three in a row.

Scarborough got a great performance from Liam Vines as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Vines has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Finn Coburn was incredible, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Matthew Fallona was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases.

Scarborough's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Westbrook, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scarborough will head out to challenge South Portland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Riots' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Red Storm's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westbrook, they will head out on the road to take on Windham at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.87 runs per game on average), something the Blue Blazes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
