Preview: Comeaux Spartans vs. Sam Houston Broncos
Comeaux is 8-2 against Sam Houston since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Comeaux Spartans will be staying on the road to face off against the Sam Houston Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th.
Comeaux suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against New Iberia, falling 57-18. Comeaux was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-8.
Meanwhile, Sam Houston was able to grind out a solid victory over Carencro on Friday, taking the game 63-54.
Blaine Davey and Carter Malveaux were among the main playmakers for Sam Houston as the former scored 18 points along with two steals and the latter scored 18 points. Malveaux's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Harmon, who scored ten points.
Comeaux now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Sam Houston, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.
Comeaux was able to grind out a solid victory over Sam Houston when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 54-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Comeaux since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
