Basketball Game Preview: Lewis County Minutemen vs. Robert C. Byrd Eagles

Lewis County is 2-8 against Robert C. Byrd since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lewis County Minutemen will square off against the Robert C. Byrd Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Lewis County has given up an average of 60 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Lewis County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Frankfort by a score of 66-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Minutemen.

Meanwhile, Robert C. Byrd was able to grind out a solid win over Lincoln on Friday, taking the game 52-41. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Cougars are ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lewis County now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Robert C. Byrd, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Lewis County came up short against Robert C. Byrd in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 58-49. Can Lewis County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
