Basketball Recap: Bensalem Sets Scoring Season-High Against Abington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bensalem). They walked away with a 69-61 victory over the Abington Galloping Ghosts on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Fighting Owls also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

Bensalem got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amir Drummond out in front who posted 27 points and five boards. Aidan Mayfield was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Bensalem smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Bensalem has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 32.7% in those games and 25.3% outside of them. As for Abington, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bensalem will face off against Neshaminy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bensalem knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Neshaminy likes a good challenge. As for Abington, they will head out on the road to take on Quakertown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Abington is facing Quakertown at the right time seeing as Quakertown is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
