Baseball Game Preview: Bear Creek Bruins vs. Edison Vikings

For the second straight game, Bear Creek will face off against Edison. The Bruins will square off against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bear Creek took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Edison by a score of 8-3.

Kevin Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Bayani, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Bear Creek's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-12 when he doesn't). Logan Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Bear Creek's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Edison, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-13-1.
