Basketball Game Preview: Pinson Valley Indians vs. Clay-Chalkville Cougars

The Pinson Valley Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Clay-Chalkville Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Pinson Valley made off with a 1-0 victory over Center Point. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Eagles are ranked 403rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Clay-Chalkville was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Etowah 68-30. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

Clay-Chalkville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Pinson Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.

Pinson Valley came up short against Clay-Chalkville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 57-51. Can Pinson Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
