Softball Recap: Saint Viator Takes a Loss

Saint Viator was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the IC Catholic Prep Knights. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Maggie Ratzki was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Alexis Horn, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Saint Viator's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for IC Catholic Prep, their record now sits at 12-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saint Viator will take on Buffalo Grove at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for IC Catholic Prep, they will challenge St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
