Softball Recap: Coleman's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gladwin, Coleman was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Merrill Vandals, sneaking past 9-8. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Raegen McCoy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Klaira Sysak was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Katelin Wilson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Coleman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Coleman moved to 5-13 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Merrill, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Coleman didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-2 victory against Carman-Ainsworth on the 3rd. As for Merrill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-11 defeat against Gladwin on the 3rd.
