Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Mt. Pleasant took on Evergreen Valley on Friday. The Mt. Pleasant Cardinals received a blow as they fell 64-46 to the Evergreen Valley Cougars. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the loss, Mt. Pleasant saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mauricio Heredia posted 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Heredia has scored all season. Derrick Norfleet was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Mt. Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Evergreen Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Mt. Pleasant didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-38 loss against Live Oak on the 29th. Evergreen Valley has also already played their next matchup, a 53-44 victory against Gilroy on the 29th.
