Preview: Minor Tigers vs. Jackson-Olin Mustangs

Minor is 8-2 against Jackson-Olin since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Minor Tigers will look to defend their home court against the Jackson-Olin Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Minor came up short against Homewood and fell 63-50. While losing is never fun, Minor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Homewood is ranked 18th).

Despite their defeat, Minor saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carlos Moore, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Moore scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmelo Burroughs, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Jackson-Olin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 17th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 59-27 loss at the hands of Parker. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Jackson-Olin has suffered since November 21, 2023.

Minor's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Jackson-Olin, they bumped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Minor strolled past Jackson-Olin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 60-41. Will Minor repeat their success, or does Jackson-Olin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
