Recap: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Westerly Bulldogs
The Woonsocket Villa Novans lost against the Westerly Bulldogs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Woonsocket fell just short of Westerly by a score of 24-21. Despite 99 more yards than Westerly, Woonsocket couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Woonsocket's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Daunte Melton, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jamaury Barr was another key contributor, picking up 173 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Westerly found their leader in underclassman Landon Husereau, who threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns. Westerly also got help from Luke Nelson who showed off his sure hands for 119 receiving yards.
Woonsocket has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Westerly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-1.
Woonsocket does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Westerly is also done with their season.
