Football Recap: Blake Comes Up Short

Blake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wharton Wildcats. The Yellow Jackets lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in April of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 32-6 score last time.

Blake's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Wharton, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-9 record.

Looking ahead, Blake will head out on the road to take on Spoto at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Yellow Jackets' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Wharton, they will challenge Gulf at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
