Basketball Recap: Garfield Heights Wins Going Away Against Coventry

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Warrensville Heights, Garfield Heights was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They strolled past the Coventry Comets with points to spare, taking the game 43-28. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 41-28 victory the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Coventry's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Munn, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lacie Matheney, who had five points.

Garfield Heights' win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Coventry, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Garfield Heights and Coventry could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Garfield Heights (ranked 544th) will meet Madison (ranked 201st) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Coventry will face off against Perry at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday down 390 places (622 vs. 232).
