Basketball Recap: West Ashley Piles Up the Points Against North Charleston

West Ashley won the last time they faced North Charleston and things went their way on Monday too. The West Ashley Wildcats blew past the North Charleston Cougars, posting a 60-14 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading West Ashley to victory were Ella Crowe and Gabbie Chinnis. Crowe went 7 of 13 on her way to 14 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Chinnis went 5 of 12 en route to 10 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Crowe has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Ladson, who posted 11 points.

West Ashley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

West Ashley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points per game. As for North Charleston, their defeat was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Ashley will host James Island at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Charleston, they and Military Magnet Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. Military Magnet Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
