Softball Game Preview: Shadow Mountain Matadors vs. Moon Valley Rockets

The Shadow Mountain Matadors will challenge the Moon Valley Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Shadow Mountain came up short against Mingus and fell 13-10. The Matadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Moon Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Dysart. Even if the Rockets couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jada Young made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Vida Cedillo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Moon Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Shadow Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Shadow Mountain took their victory against Moon Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-5 score. Do the Matadors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
