Volleyball Recap: Rudder Beats Fort Bend Clements for Their Fourth Straight Win

Rudder waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Fort Bend Clements. For Rudder, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory Fort Bend Clements walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2023.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (67-63) Rudder actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 13-25, 25-19.

Addison Benavidez paced Rudder's offense, picking up seven kills. Benavidez got some help from Ja'Liyah McClenton and her ten assists. Benavidez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Despite the loss, Fort Bend Clements saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abigail Mayrgundter had 14 digs and four assists. Mayrgundter has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Rudder's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Fort Bend Clements, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Rudder didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Bastrop on the 23rd. As for Fort Bend Clements, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Manor on the 23rd.
