Baseball Recap: The First Academy Picks Up 14th Consecutive Win

It's playoff time, and The First Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They didn't even let the Lakeland Christian Vikings on the board on Tuesday, marking the Royals' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Royals have won 21 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lakeland Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Thomas Achey, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (he gave up two walks). Achey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Remo Indomenico was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Blake Fields, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

The First Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the 14th in a row for The First Academy, bringing their record up to 28-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeland Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-10.

The First Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Saint Andrew's at 1:00 p.m. on the 20th. The Royals are on a 15-game streak of home wins, the Scots a seven-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. Lakeland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
