Baseball Recap: Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Extends Winning Streak to Two

Ten must be Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's lucky number: they beat St. Mary with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Thunderbirds beat the Knights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-5. This was a revenge game for the Thunderbirds: when they faced off against the Knights last Tuesday, they had to take a 7-1 defeat.

The victory made it two in a row for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop and bumps their season record up to 5-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for St. Mary's, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop will face off against Sibley East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Thunderbirds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Mary's, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Lyle/Pacelli at 1:00 p.m.
