Preview: Demopolis Tigers vs. Selma Saints
The Demopolis Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Selma Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Demopolis is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
Even though Brewbaker Tech scored an imposing 68 points on Monday, Demopolis still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Demopolis made off with a 69-68 victory over Brewbaker Tech. Given Demopolis' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Brewbaker Tech is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Brewbaker Tech scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Selma still came out on top. Selma managed a 62-58 win over Brewbaker Tech.
Demopolis pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Selma, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Demopolis skirted past Selma 64-61 in their previous matchup on January 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Demopolis since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
