Basketball Game Preview: Garfield G-Men vs. Newton Falls Tigers

Garfield and Newton Falls are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Garfield G-Men just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Newton Falls Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Wednesday, Garfield came up short against LaBrae and fell 44-34. The G-Men haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-20, which was the final score in Newton Falls' tilt against Crestview on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 635th, while the Rebels are ranked 125th).

Newton Falls dropped their record down to 6-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Garfield, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Everything went Garfield's way against Newton Falls in their previous meeting on January 7th, as Garfield made off with a 40-17 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Garfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
