Soccer Recap: Hernando Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Oxford

On Thursday, Hernando faced Oxford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Hernando Tigers fell just short of the Oxford Chargers by a score of 2-1. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Chargers from their previous meeting back in January.

Hernando's goal came courtesy of Meg Sanders, who's now up to three this season.

Hernando moved to 5-2-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Oxford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2-1.

Hernando has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Amory on the 6th. As for Oxford, they will take on Lewisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewisburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.4 goals per game this season.
