Basketball Recap: Hawken Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Geauga

Hawken was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Geauga Wolverines. One positive for the Hawks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Hawken's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Liu, who posted 18 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Liu has posted since back in January. Sophia Cicerini was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six boards and three blocks.

Hawken's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for West Geauga, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.

Hawken will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cornerstone Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for West Geauga, they will head out to challenge Kirtland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
