Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Heritage Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 18-7 to the Pillow Academy Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since February 21st.

Emerson Weeks put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

Weeks wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Fowler, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Fowler has become a key player for Heritage Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Gavin Elliott was another, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Heritage Academy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-9. As for Pillow Academy, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9.

Coincidentally, Heritage Academy and Pillow Academy will both be playing Magnolia Heights the next time they take the field. Heritage Academy will host Magnolia Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pillow Academy will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on April 8th.
