Preview: Biggs Wolverines vs. Williams Yellowjackets

Biggs is 0-9 against Williams since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Biggs Wolverines will be playing at home against the Williams Yellowjackets at 8:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Biggs sitting on five straight wins and Williams on three.

Biggs can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Maxwell 72-32 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-19.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Biggs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emilio Vera, who scored 17 points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Brady Smith, who scored 18 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Williams earned a 65-54 win over CORE Butte on Friday. With that victory, Williams brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.

Diego Ambriz and Kyden Bowen were among the main playmakers for Williams as the former scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two blocks and the latter scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ambriz has scored at least a third of Williams' points. Luis Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring three points along with two steals.

Biggs pushed their record up to 12-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Williams, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-12 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Biggs have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 39 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Williams struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 11.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Biggs came up short against Williams in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 68-58. Thankfully for Biggs, Brian Rosales (who scored 26 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
