Basketball Game Preview: GMG Wolverines vs. East Marshall Mustangs

GMG is 0-7 against East Marshall since February of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The GMG Wolverines will head out to take on the East Marshall Mustangs at 7:45 p.m. GMG knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully East Marshall likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, GMG came up short against Collins-Maxwell and fell 70-60. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Collins-Maxwell are ranked 90th).

Meanwhile, East Marshall hadn't done well against Jesup recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. East Marshall was the clear victor by a 76-50 margin over Jesup.

East Marshall has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for GMG, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

GMG came up short against East Marshall in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 84-71. Can GMG avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
