Baseball Game Preview: Hardin County Cougars vs. Massac County Patriots

Hardin County is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Massac County is on a five-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Hardin County Cougars will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Massac County Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Hardin County is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They came up short against Herrin on Monday, falling 16-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since March 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, Massac County made easy work of Century on Monday and carried off a 12-1 victory. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Centurions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Max Elliott was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Adan Mizell was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Hardin County took their victory against Massac County when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5. Will Hardin County repeat their success, or does Massac County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
