Basketball Game Preview: Wortham Bulldogs vs. Mildred Eagles

The Wortham Bulldogs will challenge the Mildred Eagles at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Wortham is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Italy last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Wortham lost 43-18 to Italy. The Bulldogs were down 34-12 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Mildred came up short against Frost last Friday and fell 37-29. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1389th, while the Polar Bears are ranked 522nd).

Mildred has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Wortham, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Wortham was dealt a bruising 60-11 defeat at the hands of Mildred when the teams last played back in November of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wortham was down 36-9.
