Basketball Recap: Pomeroy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Pomeroy was riding high fresh off their 50-11 takedown of Dayton on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pomeroy Pirates fell to the Garfield-Palouse Vikings 47-42. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-43 back in December of 2024.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cesar Morfin, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points. Those 14 points gave Morfin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyzer Herres, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points and six boards.

Pomeroy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Garfield-Palouse, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Pomeroy will take on Colton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garfield-Palouse has already played their next matchup (against Almira-Coulee-Hartline), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
