Preview: South Pointe Stallions vs. York Cougars
South Pointe is 8-1 against York since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The South Pointe Stallions will be playing in front of their home fans against the York Cougars at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (South Pointe is ranked 14th, while York is ranked 34th).
South Pointe unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Northwestern on the road and fell 64-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Mason Picket-Hicks put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 165 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Aidan Turner, who rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, South Pointe's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Northwestern's QB won't forget C.J. Dixon anytime soon given Dixon sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, York earned a 19-12 victory over Lancaster on Friday. The win was just what York needed coming off of a 56-14 defeat in their prior matchup.
South Pointe's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for York, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
South Pointe took their victory against York in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 33-13. Does South Pointe have another victory up their sleeve, or will York turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
