For the second straight game, Surry Central will face off against East Surry. The Golden Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Surry Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Surry Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against East Surry on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 4-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 26, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Will Pardue was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Dru Gaddy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

Pardue wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Woodring, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

East Surry is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Surry Central, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
