Basketball Recap: Warren County's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Warren County was riding high fresh off their 81-60 takedown of Lunenburg Central last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warren County Eagles fell 51-43 to the Northampton County Jaguars on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Warren County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kamari Nicholson almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Nicholson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalil Townsend, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Warren County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Northampton County had a senior duo take command as Jiyoun Williams went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds and Torrey Harris went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points. The contest was Harris' fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Warren County's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Northampton County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.

Warren County will face off against Wilson Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Northampton County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-61 win against Southeast Halifax on the 7th.
