Baseball Recap: Westampton Tech Triumphs

Westampton Tech hadn't done well against Medford Tech recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Jaguars. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won three in a row.

David Torres was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Westampton Tech's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Gore-Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westampton Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Westampton Tech's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Medford Tech, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westampton Tech will welcome Burlington City at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Medford Tech, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Maple Shade at 3:45 p.m.
