Basketball Game Preview: St. James Sharks vs. Myrtle Beach Seahawks

After both having extra time off, the St. James Sharks and the Myrtle Beach Seahawks will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. James took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They walked away with a 53-46 victory over North Myrtle Beach.

Meanwhile, Myrtle Beach hadn't done well against Carolina Forest recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Myrtle Beach took down Carolina Forest 55-38. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Seahawks.

St. James better keep an eye on James Watson. He was instrumental in Myrtle Beach's win, going 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Watson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was John Simmons, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Myrtle Beach was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carolina Forest only racked up seven assists.

Myrtle Beach is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for St. James, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Things could have been worse for St. James, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-47 loss to Myrtle Beach when the teams last played on January 7th.
