Long Beach and St. Martin are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Long Beach Bearcats will face off against the St. Martin Yellow Jackets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Long Beach took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over D'Iberville. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bearcats considering their two-run performance the game before.

Caden Ahrens looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Dax Arkin and Aiden Downey did most of the damage at the plate: Arkin scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Downey scored three runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, Downey also posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Will Brady, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Long Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as D'Iberville only hit six hits.

Meanwhile, St. Martin entered their tilt with West Harrison on Thursday with three consecutive wins dating back to last season, and they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Hurricanes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted against the Hurricanes since April 18, 2018.

Long Beach came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Martin in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Long Beach since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
