Baseball Recap: Orestimba Gets the Win

After only two runs in their last contest, Orestimba made sure to put some runs up on the board against Denair on Saturday. The Orestimba Warriors put the hurt on the Denair Coyotes with a sharp 11-2 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Ray Montes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Orestimba let Nathan Ceja and Richie Rivas run wild. Ceja scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Rivas scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Rivas also stolen a stolen base, marking his first of the season. Payton Marcotte was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Orestimba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denair only posted an OBP of .438.

Orestimba's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Denair, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.

Coming up, Orestimba will take on Stone Ridge Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denair, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Big Valley Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
