Baseball Recap: Elida Comes Up Short

Elida played against Melrose on Friday and lost via forfeit.

Elida saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coda Cathey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Cathey also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.

Elida is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3. As for Melrose, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Elida will face off against rival Floyd at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Melrose is set to challenge their familiar foe Dora at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
