Softball Game Preview: Russellville Panthers vs. Allen County-Scottsville Patriots

The Russellville Panthers will square off against the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Russellville managed to slip by Clinton County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Russellville came up short against Clinton County on Saturday, falling 12-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Allen County-Scottsville faced Warren East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Allen County-Scottsville lost 12-3 to Warren East. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Patriots, who until this game were averaging 3.89 runs allowed.

Shiloh Knievel and Payton Hopkins did some serious damage despite the final result: Knievel went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Hopkins went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Russellville's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Allen County-Scottsville, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Russellville came out on top in a nail-biter against Allen County-Scottsville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 9-7. Will Russellville repeat their success, or does Allen County-Scottsville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
