Basketball Game Preview: Chisum Mustangs vs. Commerce Tigers

Chisum and Commerce are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Chisum Mustangs will head out to challenge the Commerce Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Chisum took a blow against Winnsboro, falling 71-35. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1049th, while the Raiders are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Commerce). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 79-47 victory over Prairiland. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Commerce's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Chisum, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.

Chisum suffered a grim 79-53 defeat to Commerce in their previous matchup back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Chisum was down 41-19.
