Basketball Game Preview: Avalon Black Knights vs. KIPP DC Legacy College Prep Bulldogs

The Avalon Black Knights will take on the KIPP DC Legacy College Prep Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Avalon ended up a good deal behind Southern Maryland Christian Academy and lost 69-55.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Messiah Manning, who posted 13 points. Luke Arulefela was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, KIPP DC Legacy College Prep came tearing into Thursday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the EAGLES, posting an 82-47 victory. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

KIPP DC Legacy College Prep's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Avalon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Avalon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against KIPP DC Legacy College Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 76-71 victory. Will Avalon repeat their success, or does KIPP DC Legacy College Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
