Baseball Game Preview: Nitro Wildcats vs. Ripley Vikings

The Nitro Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Ripley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Nitro fell victim to Keyser and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 8-0 to the Golden Tornado. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ripley didn't have quite enough to beat Winfield on Friday and fell 5-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Generals: they've now lost three in a row.

Bryson Casto was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brady McVay, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Ripley's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Nitro, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.

Nitro suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Ripley when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can Nitro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
