Basketball Game Preview: Hoopeston Cornjerkers vs. Iroquois West Raiders

The Hoopeston Cornjerkers and the Iroquois West Raiders will face off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses dating back to last season for Hoopeston and five for Iroquois West dating back to last season.

Hoopeston's tournament run continued when they took on Armstrong on Friday. The Cornjerkers took a 75-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Iroquois West came up short against Tri-Point on Friday, falling 59-35.

Hoopeston will have to keep a close watch on Landen Kraft and Wyatt Breen, a pair of players who had a big impact on Iroquois West's prior game. Kraft posted seven points, while Breen had six points.

Iroquois West's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hoopeston, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.

Everything came up roses for Hoopeston against Iroquois West when the teams last played back in February, as the team secured a 69-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cornjerkers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
