Basketball Recap: Gadsden Takes a Loss

Gadsden lost against Centennial last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Gadsden Panthers were dealt a 61-28 loss at the hands of the Centennial Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Hawks are ranked 29th).

Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rizaya Cash, who posted 11 points. Kennedy Maestas was another key player, putting up ten points.

Gadsden's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season.

Gadsden does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Centennial, they will head out to square off against Las Cruces at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Las Cruces will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Centennial surely won't give up without a fight.
