Baseball Recap: Melrose Comes Up Short

Melrose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Southwind Jaguars. If the Golden Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 9-6 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Southwind, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Coming up, Melrose will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Westwood at 4:30 p.m. As for Southwind, they are taking a road trip to challenge Fairley on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
