Baseball Recap: Ritchie County Rebels vs. Gilmer County Titans

Ritchie County had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 3-16-1 to make it six. They fell just short of the Gilmer County Titans by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in March.

Turner Shriver made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Garrett Flesher, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Gilmer County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

On Gilmer County's side, Colton Bush was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those two runs gave Bush a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Ratliff, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Ritchie County will be playing at home against Van at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Gilmer County will be paying especially close attention to the Rebels' contest: after the Rebels face off against the Bulldogs, they'll take on Gilmer County again at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
