Softball Game Preview: Crosbyton Chiefs vs. O'Donnell Eagles

For the second straight game, Crosbyton will face off against O'Donnell. The Chiefs will challenge the Eagles on Saturday.

While Crosbyton's victory against O'Donnell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chiefs skirted past the Eagles 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chiefs have posted since April 5, 2024.

Lilly Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Natalia Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Novalee Salazar was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs.

Crosbyton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.2 runs over those games. As for O'Donnell, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
