Baseball Recap: Staley Beats Blue Springs for Their Third Straight Victory

Staley entered their tilt with Blue Springs on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jake Thomas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Staley's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evan Abbott, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Staley pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Blue Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Coming up, Staley is taking a road trip to challenge Liberty North at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.4, the Eagles 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Blue Springs, they will welcome Blue Springs South at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
